The longer I stared at the prototype round table, the more its legs reminded me of a thread winder.

My family had been in the textile business since my grandfather’s time, and we kept an antique wooden thread winder at home. I never actually used it, but I liked spinning it by hand. There was also something captivating about the mechanism that released the wound thread with just one touch.

I named it WINDER, after the thread winder. In the dictionary, the word also has poetic and figurative meanings related to wind. Looking back at the table, I felt as though a breeze had just passed through. The name was clear: the WINDER TABLE.

While its thick tabletop and solid, robust legs give it a sense of weight, it somehow doesn’t feel heavy or overbearing. In use, the leg configuration works remarkably well. No matter how many people gather around, the legs never get in the way, making it easy to sit anywhere. Even with seven people, everyone can eat comfortably—and it still carries a unique, open, breezy quality.

Pair it with the VIENTO CHAIR, and the airy feeling is even more pronounced. Viento means “wind” in Spanish. It evokes a sense of ease and lightness, like the soft flutter of curtains in the breeze.
