The mountain photo used in the My Favorite Place poster was the first I ever took with a classic Leica, using black-and-white film. Afterward, I tried photographing a few pieces of furniture as well.

When I saw the developed prints, I was honestly surprised. I rediscovered the power of black and white. Even without color, it somehow felt as if “color” was present—or perhaps it was precisely because of black and white that certain qualities emerged. Drawn into this world, I continued shooting furniture for the web digitally, while also capturing them on black-and-white film in parallel.

Created to coincide with the opening of the S.T,N.E. showroom, this tabloid was printed as a panoramic sheet on a rotary press. One side carries the mountain photo taken in northern Osaka, the other a layout of furniture photographs.

You can pin your favorite side on the wall, or leave it folded on a coffee table to unfold like a newspaper. Over time it will wrinkle and crease—and that, too, feels just right.
