Place Stool

The PLACE series began as a kind of challenge.

The first piece I made was a shelf. I wanted nothing more than to join together boards of equal thickness—just that.

The result was a shelf I could truly be satisfied with. Riding that momentum, I went on to make a table, a bench, and then a stool. As with the shelf, each was simply put together without adding unnecessary elements.

The finished pieces feel just right. There’s a refreshing presence to them. Like the table, the absence of extra elements itself is becoming their character.
