Eddie Chair

There’s a chair painted in Van Gogh’s work. Not something designed by anyone in particular, but a chair made simply out of the needs of daily life. That’s the kind of thing I love.
I wanted this chair to carry that same kind of simplicity. Straight legs, with just a slight bend at the top of the back ones. As little intervention as possible.
But a chair is something you sit in. You entrust your body to it, and inevitably notice its subtle balance.
So my wish was to make it better to sit in, even if only a little. The kind of chair where, without realizing it, you’ve sat for hours, and when you finally stand up, you find yourself thinking, “This chair feels good, it’s easy.” That would be the best.
A few small adjustments and balances, aiming for that feeling, are embedded in this otherwise simple form.
As for the name Eddie, there isn’t really a special story or meaning. It just came from the thought that it would be nice if it could feel like someone close by—like being able to casually call out, “Hey Eddie!”
